Many directories exist, but few offer real insights, use cases, or trustworthy comparisons. I wanted to build a platform that doesn’t just list AI tools, but helps users discover the best ones through real context, user-centric categories, and honest content. That’s how EvoAI.tools was born.

What it does

EvoAI.tools is a curated directory of AI tools designed to help users quickly find the most effective AI applications for their personal or professional needs. The platform features:

  • Handpicked tools across categories like chatbots, writing assistants, image generators, productivity boosters, and more.
  • SEO-optimized tool pages with use cases, tutorials, and comparisons.
  • A clean, distraction-free interface that prioritizes discovery over clutter.
  • A submission system where creators can list their tools—either free or via a premium fast-track.

How I built it

I developed EvoAI.tools using a lightweight web stack:

  • Frontend: Bootstrap + custom UI components for a responsive, minimalist layout.
  • Backend: laravel for speed and scalability.
  • Analytics: Integrated SimpleAnalytics to monitor traffic and optimize content strategy.
  • Hosting: Deployed on VPS.

Challenges I ran into

  • SEO vs UX: Balancing keyword-rich content with clean UI and good user experience.
  • Tool curation: Manually researching tools and verifying quality took time.
  • Early-stage growth: Without initial traffic, attracting tool creators to pay for listings was difficult.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of
