Discord Reminder Bot

Inspiration

We use discord daily, and along with that daily use come with use of bots. We wanted to create a bot that would be beneficial to us and other students that may sometimes forget their schedule or when class starts.

What it does

User can use the !add command to add a day and time ex:(Monday 18:24), and the bot will ping the user in discord when the time comes.

How I built it

We used discord.py to integrate discord commands, and used python in Visual Studio Code to create our bot.

Challenges we ran into

Working on time zones and pinging user at designated time.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

After almost 9 hours of coding and problem solving we managed to be able to implement discord.py and create our bot

What I learned

I learned that developing a discord bot with a relatively simple goal was a lot harder and required a lot more specific knowledge to accomplish.

What's next for Discord Reminder Bot

Probably adding more features, such as setting a specific date like 11/7 rather than just names of days.
