Discord filter bot

Inspiration

I used discord a lot, and lurking around in a number of large communities gave me the thought that I could make something that makes a difference in the environments that I am currently exposed to.

What it does

The discord bot (still a work in progress) will filter out messages containing profanity and delete them, giving them a warning. We also made it so that they can filter out links too (whether the content within the link has explicit content or not).

How we built it

We worked collaboratively on deepnote using python and alternating between the IDE and discord client, continuously testing it.

Challenges we ran into

most of us were beginners (and spent a lot of time finding a platform to collaboratively work on), so the process was difficult and slow.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We actually managed to submit something!! regardless of quality, we are grateful to have this experience.

What we learned

More python skills, and also more experience of working under pressure of time constraints (especially when working collaboratively in a group)

possible for us to continue working on it as a personal project and continue to improve it.
