Inspiration

We wanted to create a fun, educational experience that explores the unique and iconic era of disco fashion. This period’s influence on modern style is undeniable, and we aim to bring this history to life in a fresh, interactive way to teach our users about how fashion has evolved over the decases.

What it does

Discofy is an interactive timeline of disco fashion history. To engage users further, we have added quizzes that test their knowledge of fashion eras, with a leaderboard ranking system to incentivize participation.

How we built it

We developed Discofy using a mobile-first approach, incorporating multimedia content through APIs. The quiz and leaderboard systems were built with real-time databases to allow live updates of rankings based on user performance. For each question the user gets correct, the diamond count increases.

Challenges we ran into

One of the key challenges we faced was figuring out how to apply all the features and ideas we envisioned for Discofy. While we had a clear vision for the interactive timeline, quizzes, and leaderboard, we pondered upon how to integrate everything smoothly. The time constraint pushed us to prioritize and focus on creating a functional, engaging experience for our users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully created a platform that blends entertainment with education. The interactive timeline and quizzes keep users engaged while they learn about disco fashion history, and the leaderboard system encourages competition and continuous learning.

What we learned

Throughout this hackathon, we learned the importance of teamwork and how to collaborate effectively to bring our project together. For some team members who were not as familiar with web development, it was a valuable opportunity to learn HTML ans CSS. We gained more experience with JavaScript for building interactive features. By combining our strengths, delegating tasks, and learning together, we were able to successfully create Discofy. We overcame challenges and grew technical skills through the hackathon experience!

What's next for Discofy

Next, we plan to expand Discofy by adding more multimedia elements and creating community features where users can discuss trends and share their fashion insights. We would like to generate more AI features by producing infinite questions for users to answer, so the leaderboard is updated constantly with user performance.
