There is always confusion during natural disasters. To help manage chaos, information about community needs is vital and often unknown. Our web app allows for people during disasters to communicate what they currently have to community leaders. The information allows for leaders to prioritize resources and figure out what the community needs.
The team went through extensive project planning, considering many different perspectives from the users' standpoint. After defining the problem and business need, the team planned out the application on paper. We designed the database in Microsoft SQL Server, before creating a ASP.NET Core MVC web application. Much of the challenges came from our inexperience with the framework as well as the time constraints. We are proud of the product we are able to deliver today with the time and knowledge we had. The team learned about important project planning practices and full-stack web development.
DisasterHelp in the future hopes continue the disaster relief process by integrated where supplies can be found and where help can be given. Also, making the software more secure and user-friendly.
