Disaster Relief Project

Inspiration

We came up with the idea of making this site while brainstorming possibles ways to complete at least one of the challenges.

What it does

It connects volunteers and emergency services during disaster relief. It shows nearby events/notices for the user to help with. It also allows the user to make requests for recovery, aid, and medical assistance.

How we built it

We began by getting the database and a simple mock-up for the UI. We then fleshed out more of the project, adding a chat, map,

Challenges we ran into

I had slight trouble finding out if we should use MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQLite3

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to display a map, contact gemini, and update stuff from the database.

What we learned

We learned how to add maps to our code and how to prompt LLMs such as Gemini in our code.
