Inspiration During natural disasters and emergencies, delays in help can cost lives. We wanted to create a simple, fast, and reliable system where victims can send emergency alerts instantly and responders can manage active crises without complicated tools. The idea was inspired by seeing how many disaster-affected areas lack quick communication channels between victims and rescue teams. About the Project We built a Disaster Help System with two main parts: A Responder Admin Panel where rescue teams can log in, monitor live emergencies, assign teams, and navigate locations. A Help Request Portal where victims can send an alert, detect their live location, and trigger WhatsApp/SMS messages to ask for help. The system also supports dark mode, priority filtering, and dynamic alerts — designed to be lightweight, responsive, and accessible even on low-end devices. What We Learned How to use Geolocation API to detect a user's exact location in real-time. Working with localStorage to temporarily store and retrieve emergency data without a server. Creating responsive UI/UX for both desktop and mobile users. Handling user input validation and designing intuitive emergency workflows. Managing project structure cleanly across multiple HTML, CSS, and JS files. Challenges We Faced Handling location detection errors when users denied GPS permission or network was weak. Designing a UI that feels both urgent (for emergencies) but still easy to use under stress. Ensuring quick load times even when using map APIs and icons. Making the system look professional but still lightweight and offline-capable.
