Inspiration 💡

Although the market is saturated with single-purpose devices, modern households have higher demands for their smart devices. People often forget to water their plants, live with suboptimal air quality, and lack convenient in-home surveillance. Inspired by these unment needs, We developed PURIFLORA, a cutting-edge Dirt Bot accessory that tackles these issues while preserving convenience and versatility.

What it does ⚙️

PURIFLORA revolutionizes the Dirt Bot into a multifunctional household assistant by including three major features: Plant Care: An AI-driven plant watering system automatically adjusts schedules and water quantities based on plant type, ensuring greenery thrives. Air Purification: A built-in purifier eliminates indoor pollutants and allergens for healthier, cleanier living spaces. Surveillance: Equipped with an AI camera, PURIFLORA offers real-time home monitoring and assists in navigation. It’s more than an accessory—it’s a game changer for modern homes.

How we built it 🛠️

Concept Development: We researched common household problems and explored how a DirtBot accessory could provide innovative solutions. Mechanical Design:

  • CAD modeling of the telescoping spout, retractable hose, and tank system for watering plants.
  • Integration of an air purifier on the DirtBot lid, ensuring compactness.
  • Precise engineering of the LED water-level indicator and refill mechanism. Materials Selection: Durable, lightweight materials like polyurethane (for the hose) and stainless steel (for the spout) were chosen for functionality and cost-efficiency. Final Assembly: Incorporated all features while maintaining the DirtBot’s original vacuuming capabilities.

Challenges we ran into 🤯

Design Constraints: Adhering to a 750x750x500 mm size limit while integrating multiple features was challenging. Balancing Aesthetics and Functionality: Ensuring the design was both visually appealing and mechanically sound required several iterations. Material Selection: Choosing lightweight yet durable materials that align with the DirtBot’s capabilities took careful consideration.
