Inspiration

You see crazy VFX or animation on your feed, you're amazed, and you ask "How did you do that?" And then... silence. You wait for a reply in the comments that never comes. You're left guessing. I saw how capable Gemini 3's video analysis is, and I realized we didn't have to wait anymore. That gave me the inspiration: stop asking, start analyzing. With Director, we can figure it out ourselves.

What it does

It's honestly very simple. You give Director a video any video and it reconstructs the workflow for you. It breaks it down step-by-step so you can actually learn from it, or just grab the prompt and recreate it in your own vision. No black boxes.

How we built it

We built it using React (TypeScript) for the interface. For the brains, we used Gemini 3 Pro Preview (for the deep analysis) and Gemini 3 Flash Preview (for the fast data structuring).

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge? The AI was lazy. At first, we'd upload a complex video and it would barely render the UI tabs or give us generic summaries. We had to fight it to get the density right. We also had a lot of trouble getting the Production Log to align perfectly with the video timeline syncing those two was harder than it looked.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re really proud that it actually works. Now, when you upload a video, the AI gets it right. It nails the Master Stack, it extracts the correct AI Prompts, and it adapts based on exactly what you uploaded. Seeing that logic finally click was a huge win.

What we learned

"Vibe coding" isn't just letting the AI take the wheel. We learned that we still have to make the decisions. The AI executes, but we have to be the architects. You can't just hand over total control and expect a good product; you still need to direct it.

What's next for Director

We just want to get Director into people's hands. We want everyone to become a director of their own production. We have a lot of features we wanted to add but didn't have time for we hope we get the opportunity to push it further.
