About the Project
Inspiration: The inspiration behind DirecKT stemmed from the recognition of the challenges faced by homeowners in accessing innovative and sustainable solutions for in-home comfort. The team observed a gap in the market where consumers struggled to find local vendors offering eco-friendly and efficient products, prompting the creation of DirecKT as a solution to bridge this gap.
What it Does: DirecKT is a one-stop platform that connects users with local vendors offering novel, in-home comfort products and services. Through the innovative "Threads" feature, users can seamlessly discover tailored solutions for their specific needs, whether it's advanced HVAC systems, eco-friendly appliances, or sustainable home improvement services.
How We Built It: DirecKT was built using a combination of modern technologies and user-centric design principles. The team utilized React Native for the mobile app development to ensure a smooth and responsive user experience. For the website, the MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) stack was employed, providing a dynamic and interactive platform for users to explore and engage with vendors.
Challenges We Ran Into: Throughout the development process, the team encountered various challenges, including integrating real-time vendor availability, optimizing the user interface for seamless navigation, and ensuring robust security features such as OTP and Aadhar verification. Overcoming these challenges required collaboration, creativity, and iterative problem-solving.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of: Despite the challenges, the team successfully launched DirecKT, providing users with a user-friendly platform to discover and connect with local vendors for sustainable in-home comfort solutions. The implementation of features like "Threads" and the integration of security measures were significant accomplishments that have contributed to DirecKT's success.
What We Learned: Through the development of DirecKT, the team gained valuable insights into mobile app and web development, user experience design, and the importance of sustainability in consumer choices. The project also underscored the significance of effective communication, teamwork, and adaptability in overcoming challenges and achieving project goals.
What's Next for DirecKT: Moving forward, DirecKT aims to expand its user base, onboard more local vendors, and further enhance the platform's features and functionality. Additionally, the team plans to explore partnerships with sustainable brands, implement additional security measures, and continue fostering a community around responsible consumption and eco-friendly living.
