Inspiration

We wanted to incorporate something that would benefit UW Madison. We were attracted to this issue because after some research we saw the inefficiency in manual diploma verification. We quickly visualized a solution that incorporated blockchain.

What it does

DiplomaChain enables universities to tokenize college diplomas and allows employers to verify the transaction between universities and students via blockchain smart contracts.

How we built it

We coded our program on VS Code and utilized technologies such as Truffle and the Ganache GUI in order to simulate the transfer of a diploma NFT from a school wallet to a student one. As well as some HTML/JS for the UI. Demo features the transfer of fake ethereum from University wallet to student, but isn’t fleshed out with NFT tech yet. (Once implemented) Skale will allow us to run our own EVM blockchain with unlimited blockchains and zero gas fees.

Challenges we ran into

We were unable to completely finish the final technical aspect of our program due to time constraints. We still have to incorperate the NFT aspect of our program.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were proud that were able to create a funcitional simulated blockchain and facilitate transactions within it.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to code in solidity and use GUI's such as Ganache.

What's next for DiplomaChain

We will flesh out the NFT aspect of our program, create a better user interface, and develop our product further and hopefully pitch to universities in the future.
