Inspiration

Are you a cooking enthusiast but guilty of food wastage🍜🍚? Are you a picky eater but want to try something yummy on campus😋🤤? Or are you just tired of the normal routine and want to pick a dish by luck🤔🤔? Your time to try 🎉🎉diNUS🎉🎉, your ultimate eating & survival guide in NUS!!!

What it does

On diNUS, you will have full control of your dining experience! You can either choose to try out recommended food courts on campus or cook yourself (be aware of the safety❗❗❗). Select cook yourself, and you can generate a random dish to treat yourself or select ingredients in your fridge to prevent food wastage. Select dining experience, you could visit the store, view comments and ratings, or give your insights after you try the food :))

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we faced was when using git and resolving conflicts. After resolving the problems, we could actually fully appreciate git and its great help in version control and collaboration.

What we learned

As year 1 freshies, this is our first time trying out Hackathon and being exposed to so many new skills. The key things we learnt is managing version control (git, github, resolving conflicts), developing website using RoR, as well as other complementary languages such as html and css to beatify the web page. And of course, the most important thing we learnt is resilience and support each other during hard times 💪💪💪

What's next for diNUS

Due to time constraint, we did not manage to have a large data base containing a lot of dishes and ingredients. In the future, we will expand the database to increase the variety of choices, as well as adding more features relating to SG (eg. halal and vegetarian options to choose from). We will also try to expand the scale of project, to make it fit other universities or even workspace, to enhance everyone's dining experience :))
