Inspiration

I wanted to make a game around a dinosaur, and I decided to model it after the chrome dinosaur game.

What it does

It's an arcade-style video game where you play as a Dinosaur with a Gun, and shoot down cactus and pterodactyls to reach a high score.

How I built it

I programmed it entirely in Godot, and made sprites in Aesprite and Pixaki

Challenges we ran into

There wasn't going to be an ammo system, but the game was too easy because you could just hold down the shoot button and stand stationary. Having Limited ammo makes you more cautious with your shots and adds a level of strategy. Additionally, I didn't manage my time super well, and I didn't get to spend as much time polishing the game as I would've wished.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of how the movement feels; I spent a lot of time making it feel smooth.

What's next for Dinosaur With A Gun

I would like to update the game in many ways in the future. Some better sound design would be ideal, and more feedback for things like collecting batteries or when the pterodactyls shoot would be nice.
