Inspiration

An immersive experience that allows you to see and interact with virtual dinosaurs as you walk around a park. • A unique and exciting way to explore the natural world, and a great way to learn about dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures in a fun and interactive way.

What it does

Point to the entrance of your local park and you'll see the Grand Gate open for you to step into a world filled with dinosaurs. As you walk around, the app superimposes realistic-looking 3D models of dinosaurs onto the real-world scene, allowing you to see them as if they were actually there. • Beware! Some dinosaurs could be hostile when you get too close to them. • To make the experience more interactive and engaging, the app also allows you to take photos with your favorite dinosaur.

Created for Niantic Lightship Hackathon, winter 2022 -23

What's next for DinosAR Park

All that is shown in the video works as expected. UI/UX, original music, sound fx, 3d models, are all there already. A better scan of the environment is required to improve occlusion results. More gamification elements need to be added, as well as textual information about the animals to increase the game’s educational value. Lastly, more of these fascinating creatures should be included.
