Inspiration

Many kids love dinosaurs, but existing educational resources often feel boring, outdated, or text-heavy. I wanted to show my younger family members how artificial intelligence can help anyone—even non-coders—create engaging, interactive applications. This project was built using Bolt.new, allowing fast, no-code development of fun, educational experiences.

What it does

Dinosaur Discovery is an interactive web app where kids explore realistic dinosaurs in a visually rich, immersive environment. The application features:

Life-like hero video of a prehistoric jungle with roaming dinosaurs
Interactive dinosaur profiles with fun facts, images, and sounds
A simple, kid-friendly quiz to test dinosaur knowledge
Random “Did You Know?” facts for ongoing engagement
Fully responsive design, optimized for web and mobile
Built with accessibility and safe content in mind

How we built it

Used Bolt.new, an AI-powered development platform, to rapidly generate project structure and deployable code
Integrated Sora to create realistic looping dinosaur videos for the hero section
Organized data using local .json and .txt files for easy content updates
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript form the technical base with no external frameworks
Deployment through Netlify for seamless hosting

Challenges we ran into

Fine-tuning AI prompts to achieve realistic yet kid-appropriate visuals
Sora initially generated static images; learning to control the video output required experimentation
Balancing realism with a friendly, non-intimidating experience for younger users
