Inspiration
Running a restaurant is hard. Running a chain of restaurants across India is an even bigger challenge. From Delhi thalis to Bangalore’s fusion snacks, thousands of orders come in every day, but they raise bigger questions: 1) Who are our real customers? 2) What’s driving revenue and growth? 3) Do discounts really work? 4) And most importantly — does sustainability make us more profitable?
We were inspired by the idea that data can solve these questions. With the right tools, we could turn raw data into actionable insights — not just for profits, but also for creating a more sustainable future.
What it does
DineWise is an AI-powered analytics platform built with Tableau Next by Salesforce. It provides restaurant chains with: 1) Customer Insights: Who is ordering, where they are, and what cuisines they prefer. 2) Sales Insights: What drives revenue, spending habits, and top-performing dishes. 3) Operational Insights: How delivery time, discounts, and order status impact customer satisfaction. 4) Sustainability Insights: How eco-friendly practices affect both customer choices and profitability.
With Agentforce AI, users don’t just look at charts — they can ask questions in natural language and instantly get insights, making analytics as simple as having a conversation.
How we built it
1) Processed restaurant data including demographics, sales, operations, and sustainability metrics. 2) Designed a four-page interactive dashboard in Tableau Next, with seamless navigation between sections. 3) Chose clean layouts and thematic colors (warm coffee tones for trust and green accents for sustainability). 4) Integrated Agentforce AI chatbot for conversational data exploration. 5) Iteratively refined the design to balance depth with clarity, ensuring it’s powerful yet intuitive.
Challenges we ran into
1) Data Complexity: Making sense of large, multidimensional datasets without overwhelming users. 2) Sustainability Metrics: Defining measurable KPIs for eco-friendly practices. 3) Interactivity: Creating smooth navigation across four dashboards while keeping a consistent theme. 4) AI Integration: Framing questions and responses that feel natural and business-relevant.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
1) Built a fully interactive, multi-page dashboard with clear insights across customers, sales, operations, and sustainability. 2) Successfully integrated Agentforce AI, making analytics conversational instead of static. 3) Crafted visualizations that don’t just look good, but tell a story. 4) Created a solution that shows how profitability and sustainability can align in the restaurant industry.
What we learned
1) Data visualization is not just about charts — it’s about telling a story. 2) AI chatbots like Agentforce can make analytics approachable for anyone, not just data experts. 3) Sustainability, when measured and analyzed correctly, can be a driver of long-term growth. 4) Working as a team, iterating on design, and merging creativity with technology leads to powerful results.
What's next for DineWise
1) Scaling Up: Extending DineWise to support more datasets and industries beyond restaurants. 2) Predictive Analytics: Using AI/ML to forecast demand, revenue, and sustainability impact. 3) Real-Time Insights: Integrating live data feeds for instant monitoring of operations. 4) Gamification: Helping restaurants encourage eco-friendly practices by rewarding sustainable choices.
