Inspiration

The inspiration for this application came to me because of the memories of going out to eat out with my girlfriend. We would usually have to wait nearly an hour to an hour and a half depending on how backed up the restaurant was. After dealing with these situations over and over again, I realized there needed to be a better solution for this. The solution we had for this was to develop Dine-In to help others solve the problem of waiting so long to get a table reserved at a restaurant, and help you choose where you could sit as well.

What it does

Dine-Out allows you to reserve a table at a restaurant without having to call ahead or deal with waiting endlessly in line. You’re given suggestions for places that you like, based on the criteria of food you enter in. Once you input this data, you are shown restaurants in your local area and are allowed to book tables and pay for everything via the app. Additionally, you are able to view all your receipts via the app and also pay with cryptocurrency.

How we built it

With the creation of Dine-Out, we utilized Figma to map out and design our application.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges we ran into while working on this project were the placement of the different icons and figuring out how to add features that are relevant to today’s time. One of the other challenges that we had was not being able to execute all the ideas we had in such a small time frame. We had a lot of other ideas that we wanted to implement into Dine-In but we were not able to get all these ideas in because of limited time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of ourselves for building a prototype in a small amount of time that can be coded and used in real life for people to book tables at restaurants. Although we are not advanced in UI UX design, we were still able to put our heads together to design the framework for our application and make it as smooth as possible.

What we learned

Always put your best foot forward and two heads are always better than one. It's always good to try even when you are not confident about an idea because it allows you to try something outside of your comfort zone. Success is only given to those who are able to go above and beyond and try. Also, we learned that ByteCoin is a new and upcoming cryptocurrency that we need to hop on asap ;)

What's next for Dine-Out

The next step for Dine-In is to get our application coded and then brought out into the market for prototyping. We want to test this out with college students and then see how they feel about it. We also want to work with AR and VR technology to showcase a more live view of the restaurant when reserving tables. With reviews from others and the implementation of new technology within restaurants and applications, people, like us, will never have to wait for a table ever again.
