AegisAI – AI Disaster Intelligence & Emergency Response Platform
Inspiration
Natural disasters, road accidents, floods, earthquakes, and fires often result in delayed emergency response because information is scattered across emergency calls, social media, news reports, and government alerts. Rescue teams spend valuable time verifying incidents and deciding where to deploy resources. We wanted to build an AI-powered platform that transforms fragmented data into real-time, actionable intelligence to help save lives.
What It Does
AegisAI is an AI-powered disaster intelligence platform that continuously analyzes data from multiple sources, verifies incidents, prioritizes emergencies based on severity, and provides responders with real-time recommendations.
The platform can:
- Detect disasters using AI
- Verify incidents from multiple sources
- Prioritize victims based on urgency
- Predict affected areas using weather and geospatial data
- Recommend the fastest rescue routes
- Provide an AI emergency assistant
- Display a live disaster dashboard
- Support multilingual communication during emergencies
How We Built It
The frontend was built using React and Tailwind CSS to provide a modern, responsive interface.
The backend uses FastAPI and Node.js to process requests and manage APIs.
AI capabilities are powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), Computer Vision, Speech Recognition, OCR, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). Google Maps APIs provide navigation and route optimization, while Firebase handles authentication and real-time updates.
Challenges We Ran Into
- Verifying disaster information from multiple unreliable sources
- Processing large volumes of real-time data
- Designing an intuitive dashboard for emergency responders
- Integrating mapping, AI, and live notifications into one platform
Balancing response speed with AI accuracy Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
Built an end-to-end disaster response platform
Combined multiple AI technologies into one solution
Designed an intuitive emergency dashboard
Created a scalable architecture suitable for government and disaster management agencies
What We Learned
This project strengthened our understanding of AI-powered decision systems, real-time data processing, geospatial intelligence, prompt engineering, and scalable cloud architectures. We also learned how AI can be applied responsibly in mission-critical scenarios where every second matters.
