Inspiration

We wanted to test the core concept of Digital Wild: can exploration of a cozy sanctuary lead to perspective-shifting story discoveries? This prototype proves players will engage with a space that rewards curiosity with narrative experiences.

What it does

Digital Wild 0 drops you into Bubble, a glowing nighttime voxel sanctuary filled with abstract roaming entities and bioluminescent plants. As you explore using simple first-person controls, you discover four special simulation plants. Clicking each transports you into a different interactive story: racing as a biomech platypus, dueling for freedom as a mongoose, experiencing collapse as a mouse, or building a bower as a bowerbird. The sanctuary also features building mechanics (place glowing musical blocks), a spinning portal to Perspect Tech missions, and a hidden floating crystal containing a secret audio transmission.

How we built it

We used Rosebud AI's no-code game creation platform to build a browser-based prototype focusing on discovery and atmosphere. The bioluminescent voxel aesthetic creates a peaceful, slightly alien environment where exploration feels natural. Each interactive element has satisfying audio feedback, from musical block placement to ambient nature sounds.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing simplicity with atmosphere in a prototype. We needed the sanctuary to feel alive and worth exploring despite limited mechanics, using lighting, roaming entities, and audio design to create presence without complex systems.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a playable prototype that demonstrates the Digital Wild vision: a cozy sanctuary where exploration leads to perspective-shifting stories. The bioluminescent voxel aesthetic establishes a unique visual identity while the embedded simulations show how diverse narratives can connect through a central hub space.

What we learned

Building a prototype helped clarify what matters most: the feeling of discovery needs to come from atmosphere and curiosity rather than explicit objectives. The challenge ahead is expanding this foundation while maintaining the peaceful, exploratory tone.

What's next for Digital Wild 0

This prototype serves as the foundation for Digital Wild 1, which will expand the sanctuary with choosable animal avatars, larger explorable biomes, additional simulations, deeper narrative connections between stories, and fuller building mechanics while keeping the discovery-focused peaceful core intact.
