Inspiration

We were inspired to solve the common problem among students regarding research collection for any paper they may be writing by providing a library that gives anyone easy access to a variety of library resources because we ourselves have experienced the long and drawn out process of gathering research for any paper.

What it does

The digital library allows students to browse libraries for books and reserve them to pick up later. It does this through a login system and database programming so each user has their own book wish list in addition to a tolerant search system that will bring up a variety of results based off of what the user is looking for; doing so allows them to reserve any book they come across, if it is available, so that they could pick it up later. (NOTE: This does run on a local server so it may not run on other computers since it requires the databases from the host computer)

How we built it

We built this website using a variety of languages to create and style the website while also using SQL and databases to store user information and information regarding books they reserved. It also has a login/signup system and a search system to find books.

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we faced was coding with the database since SQL code required a different syntax than what we were used to, additionally, it gave us a lot of errors due to the very specific formatting required.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Overall, we are proud of creating a nice looking website that has our intended function and that we learned a variety of languages along the way and expanded our knowledge of computer science.

What we learned

We learned more about website development and how database programming can be implemented to better said website.

What's next for Digital Online Library

What's next is that we plan to add more functions to make the process more user friendly as well as expand our database to more than just books.
