Inspiration struck me when I needed an important document and I asked my Grandmother to send me but she couldn't do it. Why? The reply was because she did not know how to click the picture and forward it on Whatsapp. That was bad to know because as the world progresses the older generation is struggling to keep up.
What it does? It provides videos to learn about the basics of digital world (how to operate your phone and basic work without being scammed.)
How we built it? I built the website using html5 on virtual studio code.
Challenges we ran into
It was challenging in a way because it was my first time and I was introduced to how one can create a website and push it to Github. It was difficult to get the commands right and each and every time to push the code in the correct directory.
Accomplishments that we're proud of at the end it feels great that atleast I created a solution for a problem and it saves some time and easier for the user (senior citizens) to find the video clips at a single place that can help them navigate the complexity of a smartphone smoothly.
What we learned? That stepping in the water is essential to swim rather than passively looking the flowing ocean.
What's next for Digital literacy for older folks
The beginning has got me here so now the planning for this initiative into something better shall continue till there is a meaningful change.
