Inspiration
The smart bracelet is a NFC-based bracelet created to aid emergency personnel in providing immediate care to pilgrims. When the bracelet is touched with an NFC scanner it retrieves individual’s information from the cloud. All this information provides paramedics with the needed health history and basic information to treat the patient quickly and efficiently. The smart bracelet breaks down any language or disability barriers as the medical assistant will only need to tap the patient’s bracelet with no need of verbal communication.
What it does
Since we are using a NFC chip, it does not require a power supply (unlike GPS tracking devices) this means a pilgrim can go on wearing the bracelet without worrying about charging it. Furthermore, the bracelet is platform independent (cloud based solution); it does not require a mobile app to be downloaded for it to work.
How we built it
Hardware was brought in before the hackathon. All software was created during the hackathon. Jquery and bootstrap were used as open source frameworks.
Challenges we ran into
We tried creating an alert system for those back home when the bracelet is scanned, but we could not get a service provider.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our biggest accomplishment is successfully working in a team without knowing each other beforehand.
What we learned
We learned that team collaboration outweighs time sensitive projects, no matter how difficult a project is.
What's next for M-083-Smart Bracelet
We hope to create the emergency alert system, and implement a feature that helps with crowd sensing.
