Inspiration

The inspiration behind Diode Profile is rooted in simplifying the process of establishing and controlling decentralized identities. We were motivated by the vision of enabling users to create rich, self-sovereign profiles without the need for crypto wallets, emails, or gas fees.

What it does

Diode Profile is a decentralized platform that empowers users to set up and control their self-sovereign identities or profile easily. It provides a seamless experience for users to craft and share bios, link social accounts, showcase portfolios, express interests, and showcase affiliated with organizations or communities. The platform eliminates the complexities associated with traditional setups, making decentralized identity management accessible and possible to everyone.

How we built it

Diode Profile is crafted using cutting-edge technologies, with a focus on user-centric design. Leveraging the web5 API JS library and Next.js, we've created a working prototype that enables users to validate their decentralized identifiers (DIDs) through the Ion DID method. The absence of crypto wallets, emails, and gas fees ensures a hassle-free and inclusive onboarding experience. To ensure greater interoperability and easy integration with other web apps, we use the schema.org/person standard for structuring user profile data. This makes your stored records easily transferable and adaptable across different platforms.

Challenges we ran into

Developing Diode Profile posed unique challenges, particularly in creating a system and structuring the schemas, that remains user-friendly and records' interoperability while offering comprehensive decentralized identity features. Overcoming these challenges required careful consideration of user interactions and backend integrations to ensure a secure and smooth experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We take pride in successfully developing Diode Profile as a solution that simplifies decentralized identity management and a bio linking tool. Our achievement lies in offering users complete control over their profiles without the need for complex tools or financial transactions. The elimination of traditional barriers ensures that anyone can enjoy the benefits of a fully decentralized setup.
