Memory is where we store what we learn, so having an effective system to retain information is essential for education. One powerful memorisation technique is the memory palace, which involves placing information in imagined environments to aid recall. But as the palace grows, it becomes harder to visualize, so to address this, we present Digipalace — an application that lets you physically build and explore your memory palace.
Our biggest challenge was visualising a 3D space on a 2D canvas. We played with different angles and perspectives until we found one that was simple, yet effective. From there, we constructed the main rooms of the palace, figured out how we wanted to add items, and kept expanding the feature set once we had a base we were happy with.
