Inspiration
DigiLearn was inspired by my past high school experience, my fellow students and I struggled to access textbooks, past papers, and other learning resources because of cost and limited availability. I wanted to build a solution that helps other students access the resources they need to learn and succeed academically.
What it does
DigiLearn gives students easy access to academic resources such as notes, past papers, marking guides, books, and video lessons all in one place. It helps students learn, revise, and prepare for exams regardless of their financial situation.
How we built it
I built DigiLearn using React Native and Firebase. I designed the experience in Figma and used AI-powered development tools to help build and refine features such as resource discovery, video lessons, search, and personalized learning.
Challenges we ran into
One of my biggest challenges was building a useful learning platform with limited time and resources. I also had to figure out how to organize different academic resources, create a simple experience for students, and integrate AI without making the app unnecessarily complicated.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud of turning a problem into a working solution. I built a platform that brings essential academic resources together in one place and makes learning more accessible to students who may not have the resources.
What we learned
Building DigiLearn taught me that solving a real problem requires more than just writing code. I learned to listen to users, simplify ideas, work with limited resources, and use AI as a tool to turn an idea into something useful.
What's next for DigiLearn Uganda
My goal is to expand DigiLearn across Africa and reach more students facing the same challenges I experienced. I want to make quality educational resources accessible to students regardless of where they live or their financial situation.
