While Ethereum and blockchain technology offer numerous benefits, there are some potential negative points to consider when storing documents on Ethereum:
Cost: Ethereum operates on a proof-of-work consensus mechanism, which requires significant computational power and energy consumption. Storing documents on Ethereum involves transaction fees, known as gas fees, which can fluctuate depending on network congestion and demand. If you have large or frequent document storage needs, these fees can become costly over time. Storage Limitations: Ethereum's primary purpose is to serve as a decentralized smart contract platform rather than a dedicated storage solution. While it is possible to store small amounts of data directly on the Ethereum blockchain using techniques like IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) and Swarm, there are practical limitations on the amount of data that can be stored in a cost-effective manner. Storing large files or significant amounts of data on Ethereum may not be practical or economical.
What it does
DigiBlocker stores your documents on Polybase (A decentralized Storage)
How we built it
DigiBlocker uses IPFS to store the images, TAilwindCss, React, Polybase as the database
Spheron deployed link http://digiblocker-4975cb.spheron.app
Challenges we ran into
It was a hardtime to implement encryption for retrieving the data, but i got through it
What's next for DigiBlocker
DigiBlocker can replace DigiLocker lol.
Built With
- ipfs
- polybase
- react
