Inspiration
Nowadays, a large number of population attends meeting through virtual software. However, it has made things even more difficult for people with disability. We wanted to do something for the individuals who communicate using American Sign Language. That is how Digi-Speak came to be.
What it does
It translates American Sign Language into English and speaks it out loud.
How we built it
The app is built using Python. The frontend design has been developed using Figma.
Challenges I ran into
The app requires a lot of processing power. It was proving quite difficult for us to make the app do processing in real time.
Accomplishments that We're proud of
We are proud that we have been able to successfully develop the product despite being new to concepts of machine learning and operating systems.
What we learned
- Tensorflow, Python -Multithreading and Parallel Computing -Importance of accessibility in User Experience design of an app
What's next for Digi-Speak
In the future, we would be looking into improving our machine learning model. Moving into the mobile space is also something we want to do
Built With
- figma
- python
- tensorflow
