Inspiration
Foods, drinks, and all the things that we consume in our daily life go through our digestive system, and it is working everyday, from day to night, nonstop. From all the work that it’s done for our body, it is important for us to take care of it in return. Each year, more than 250 million people are diagnosed with a digestive disorder. This number shows that many people didn’t take care of their digestive system properly.
What it does
From improving people’s health to educating people for the better good, Digestive Healthcare is here to help us. This app is created as a tool that people can use to track their bowel movements and the quality of their stool and urine. From this track of information, Digestive Healthcare can provide you with suggestions or ways to take better care of your health.
How we built it
We created this app using Figma (since it's just a prototype). And some minor HTML, CSS, javascript. Furthermore can be read below.
Challenges we ran into
There are minor problems such as bad internet connection or how we deal with built-up fatigue. The biggest challenge that we ran into was “executing our ideas properly”. We have quite a lot of interesting ideas, but couldn’t think of a way to implement them in codes. We were originally planning to participate with 4 members, but two couldn't make it to the hackathon. So we proceed with just two members that don’t have much experience in coding. We’ve just started to code recently, so it’s honestly just skill issue on our side. I mean, we didn’t even know how to do git-push properly at first.
Accomplishment that we're proud of
After finishing some of the designs (looks and functionalities) we tried to build the app with our utmost capability. Since the idea that we chose to execute is best applicable for mobile app, we tried to learn flutter and nodejs (which are new to us), but after trying to learn it for a day or so, we dont think that its gonna work this way. So, we shift up our plan, we tried to build it using things that we’ve used before, HTML, CSS, java, spring, and PostgreSQL, but we encountered a lot of problems there too, there were a whole lot of errors. After this and that, with time chasing us down, we decided to just scrap it all and focus on improving the feature that we wanted to implement in the prototype and make the pitching video as quickly as we could.
Honestly, we’re not very proud of the result, it was not the best thing that we could make, but we are very proud of making this app idea that can help improve a lot of people's digestive system's health.
What we learned
The fact that we’re still green in this event, we need to learn a lot more about coding, about how to implement the ideas that we have into a proper program or the likes.
What's next for Digestive Healthcare - stool and urine excretion tracker
- Fix our program and make it ready for deployment
- Train our own LLM / AI so that we can give it more control over the customization that specifies bowel movements, stool, and urine healthcare.
