Inspiration

Digemart was born out of the desire to make life easier for the crypto users and also to facilitate the adoption of the Blockchain ecosystem by crypto and non-crypto users, and to also solve the most pertinent problem that is generally recognizable, which is centralization, to address most of the problems of centralized E-commerce sites, such as exorbitant transaction fees, Shipping related issues such as lost of track of goods/packages, misplacement of packages etc. Our motivation is to make the industry generic and inclusive for all actors (Crypto users --> Marketplace Partners). Thus getting motivated by how various centralized online shopping stores like Amazon, eBay, etc. are thriving and the number of growing crypto users who have to go through the stress of converting their cryptocurrency to fiat before they can make purchases of their basic needs such as groceries, gadgets etc, we sort to bridge this gap.

What it does

Digemart, A one-stop online shopping marketplace where crypto users can purchase any product of their choice, ranging from groceries, gadgets etc, directly with cryptocurrency without having to convert to fiat and receive NFTs in form of a receipt for every purchase. It won't just stop there, our users will get reward points for every purchase, coupons which they can redeem or use to make more purchases. All our users will have to do is just select items they want and then add them to cart, once done selecting your items, you just have to signup(incase you didn't do that already) and connect your wallet and checkout your orders. You will fill out your delivery address and location. You will be able to keep track of your products and approve a transaction on the blockchain to verify you have received your product and only then will the escrow contract realize the purchased amount to the merchant/seller.

How we built it

We are using NextJs, Typescript to build the frontend, The SmartContract is built with Solidity. We are using MongoDB and IPFS for our database. For now since we haven't built our shipping services yet, we will be integrating the shipping API's from some logistic companies on the blockchain so we can be able to keep track of the shipments on the blockchain.

This is why at Digemart we have created an enjoyable user experience and allow visitors to browse products, add them to the cart, and also avoid unnecessary design elements that can disrupt the checkout process.

  • One-click checkout process We understand that our consumers are impatient and wary of giving too much personal information to marketplaces. So, we simplify the checkout process by reducing the number of required fields while gathering enough information to process orders and deliver the order.

UPDATES ON DIGEMART FROM INITIAL MVP DIGITALMART

We have significantly updated the project, here is a list of things we have done; *We rebuild the entire Frontend, if you see the new frontend at digemart.com, you will realized we built something completely different. *We have built out a payment contract/ Escrow Contract which will handle the payments.

  • We are integrated JustMoney Swap for swapping of all cryptocurrency on the Tron Network to stables, because we intend handling payments with stable coins such as USDD AND USDT. *We have a separate NFT contract for Receipts which are going to be NFT's *We an order tracking contract which is meant to track goods logistic services.

Challenges we ran into

The major challenge is we are currently few in the team and the task atimes gets overwhelming and we struggle alot trying to meet up on alot of things, but albeit we do our best to keep things moving until maybe we can be able to hire more people into the team.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are so proud of what we are building, the conceptualization, the bringing of the idea to life and continual progress we make everyday is something we keep being grateful for, because its not an easy task bringing an idea to life, I am also super proud of the team and the efforts everyone keep making to push the vision forward.

What we learned

We have learnt so much since we started this journey, the new things we have learnt, new tools we have learnt in other to implement the features we want, the process of becoming a good startup and managing and working with other team mates.

What's next for Digemart- A decentralized E-commerce Marketplace

We will keep building, onboard the first set of users on our official launch, begin marketing and promoting Digemart to the world.
