Inspiration
The inspiration for this project was the DEI track. We aim to make online shopping for food items, and even accessing menus of restaurant websites more accessible to users online who have specific dietary requirements. Oftentimes, this information can be hidden online.
What it does
This chrome extension scans webpages for specific dietary restrictions and highlights the words that are restricted based on the user’s particular conditions. For diabetic users, it displays the added sugar content if it is more than 5 grams.
How we built it
We built this chrome extension using JS, HTML, and JSON.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges of making our chrome extension accommodate the layout of different online shopping websites.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
We are proud that this extension is successfully able to identify requirements for specific dietary restrictions. We are proud that it aims to accommodate a wide range of users.
What we learned
We learned, using AI to develop this extension, more about HTML and JS. We learned about how to get a chrome extension to function.
