The lack of awareness regarding suitable dietary options based on individual restrictions often leads to adverse effects such as stomach upsets or allergies. This motivated me to develop a solution aimed at facilitating informed dietary decisions, particularly for individuals managing allergies or dietary restrictions

Diet Detective is your personalized nutrition companion powered by cutting-edge AI technology. Simply snap a photo of your meal and input your dietary preferences, and let our app analyze the ingredients, providing tailored recommendations based on your unique needs. Whether managing allergies, dietary restrictions, or simply aiming for a healthier lifestyle, Diet Detective empowers you to make informed choices, ensuring every bite aligns with your goals. With Diet Detective, navigating the culinary landscape has never been easier or more intuitive

How I built it

The project was built using a combination of technologies, including AI algorithms for image recognition and analysis. For the frontend, React and JavaScript was used. For the backend Nodejs and Express Js were used. I utilized foundational LLMS to recognize various food items and ingredients and provide tailored recommendations based on user preferences and restrictions.

Challenges I ran into

One of the main challenges faced during the project was integrating the AI functionality seamlessly into the user interface as it posed its own set of challenges, requiring careful design and implementation to ensure a smooth user experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This journey of building the Diet Detective app has been both rewarding and enlightening, and I’m excited to continue refining and improving the platform to help individuals make healthier dietary choices.

What's next for Diet Detective

Continue working on improving the model to detect a wide variety of different dishes. Also add user authentication so that the system learns the user’s preferences overtime thereby improving the user’s overall experience
