Burnout is a problem which commonly afflicts a large majority of college and university students. Oftentimes this burnout comes as the result of the over-scheduling and overworking of today's students. With a multitude of courses, extracurricular, and social activities to manage, it is certainly understandable that students may face issues balancing these workloads with their mental and physical health. In order to help alleviate this issue and remove the burden of schedule planning from the students themselves, our group has introduced Diem, an app which optimizes each user's schedule in accordance to their various preferences and needs. Diem constructs users' schedules based on the concept of time blocking, a productivity method which divides an individuals day into periods of time during which a specific activity or task will be assigned for completion. Our app accomplishes this through the use of reinforcement learning (RL).
