Inspiration

Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs) are a major cause of amputations in India, often due to delayed detection and limited access to care. With smartphone penetration exceeding 90%, we were inspired to develop a digital solution that brings early diagnosis and support to patients, especially at the grassroots level.

What it does

We have built an AI-powered mobile app that helps bridge the gap between patients and doctors in monitoring diabetic foot ulcers. Patients can easily upload images of their feet, which the app analyzes using advanced AI to detect and grade ulcers. This data is then sent to the treating physician as well. This allows the physician to keep track of the patients progress remotely.

How we built it

We are building it based on a deep learning model which has a backend cloud storage of images uploaded by the patients while also ensuring privacy.

Challenges we ran into

We faced technical challenges in integrating AI with user-friendly design, ensuring clinical reliability, and maintaining secure data encryption.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a seamless tool that empowers early diagnosis and continuous care for high-risk patients. We’re glad we were able to brainstorm as a team and build an app in such short span of time.

What we learned

User-friendly design and data security are as critical as clinical accuracy in medical AI apps. The most crucial aspect of a project being successful is acceptance among the patients.

What's next for Diatech10x Salvaging Limbs one step at a time

Scaling to support multi-language access and integrating with hospital EHR systems. We also look forward to getting our idea implemented at the primary health care level
