Diary of an Office Worker in the Ice Age Apocalypse# Inspiration
Inspired by real-world anxiety around climate change, overwork culture, and the quiet absurdity of human routines, this story imagines a near-future Seoul frozen in a new Ice Age — where one office worker clings to daily rituals in order to survive, and to remember who he is.
What it does
This short film explores the emotional and psychological toll of surviving the apocalypse while still following the remnants of office life — tying a necktie, checking emails, sharing instant noodles with strangers — all told through visual storytelling powered by AI tools.
How we built it
We used a combination of cutting-edge AI generation tools: 🖼️ Image generation: Nano Banan x Higgsfield 🔍 Base & upscaled images: Letzai 🎞️ Video sequences: Hailou AI, Pixevers V5 x Wavespeed AI, Veo 3 🎬 Start & end frames: Kling AI x Higgsfield 🎵 Cinematic soundtrack: ElevenLabs Each scene follows a 9-part cinematic structure: camera composition, subject detail, setting, actions, visual cues, mood, audio, color grade, and optional dialogue.
Challenges we ran into
-Visual consistency across different AI platforms was the biggest challenge — ensuring characters, environments, lighting, and tone matched scene-to-scene. -Pacing a complete emotional story arc in under 90 seconds was difficult without rushing or undercutting key emotional moments. -Audio and music layering had to be subtle but powerful, and required multiple prompt revisions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created a visually and emotionally cohesive short film entirely using AI tools Designed a consistent character arc, recurring symbols (like the necktie), and silent emotional beats Crafted a cinematic story that feels human, despite being machine-assisted
What we learned
Prompt writing is its own form of directing Emotion doesn't always need dialogue — sound design + silence is powerful AI can’t replace storytelling — but it can accelerate and elevate ideas when guided with intention Markdown + LaTeX can even be used to structure the logic behind shot pacing and visual math!
