Inspiration
Everyone knows the frustration of buying an exquisite, expensive perfume only to find it vanishes in thirty minutes or turns unpleasantly sharp on their wrist. Fragrance performance isn't just about the scent pyramid; it is deeply tied to individual skin biochemistry — lipid barriers, moisture levels, pore texture, and epidermal oiliness. We built Diamandis to bridge high-end skincare diagnostics with personalized fragrance curation.
What it does
Diamandis analyzes the user's skin profile via YouCam API and pairs biological skin metrics with perfume molecular weights:
- Biochemical Skin Scan: Measures hydration, sebum/oiliness, and surface texture using YouCam Skin AI.
- Molecular Fragrance Matching: Evaluates scent concentration (Extrait, EDP, EDT) and note evaporation rates (volatile top citrus vs. heavy resinous/amber bases) against the user's specific skin retention profile.
- Holistic Routine Curation: Suggests tailored skin-prep layering (e.g., lipid-replenishing balms or non-scented hydrators) alongside niche perfume recommendations to maximize projection and longevity.
How we built it
- Frontend: React, TypeScript, modern responsive UI designed for beauty eCommerce.
- AI Diagnostics: YouCam Skin AI API (Perfect Corp) for facial skin analysis.
- Architecture: Node.js backend acting as the orchestration agent matching skin biomarker data to an curated fragrance taxonomy.
Challenges we ran into
Mapping visual skin diagnostic metrics (like moisture and sebum levels) into olfactory chemistry formulas required structuring a custom heuristic engine that correlates skin barrier health with volatile organic compound retention.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a novel, scientifically grounded commerce intersection between clinical skincare diagnostics and bespoke luxury perfumery.
What's next for Diamandis
- Real-time skin evolution tracking across seasons and climates.
- Direct integration with niche perfumery houses for on-demand bespoke blending.
