Inspiration

Our journey with DIALog began with a simple yet profound realization: the power of communication is universal, but its accessibility isn't. We were inspired by the daily struggles faced by individuals with disabilities, those who often find it challenging to detect emotions or tones in phone calls. This communication barrier can lead to isolation, misunderstandings, and a lack of confidence in connecting with others. Our inspiration came from the belief that everyone, regardless of their abilities, deserves the joy and fulfillment of connecting with others through conversations.

What it does

DIALog is more than an app; it's a bridge to a world of inclusive communication. What it does is simple yet transformative. It acts as an emotional tone translator during phone calls, helping users to decipher and engage with the emotional context of conversations in real-time. DIALog empowers individuals with disabilities to participate fully in phone conversations, fostering confidence and ease in their interactions.

How we built it

Building DIALog was a collaborative effort that blended innovation, technology, and accessibility. We leveraged sklearn, ReactNative, and the T-Mobile Your Number Anywhere (YNA) API. Our user-centric design prioritized accessibility features, making the app usable for people with diverse abilities.

Challenges we ran into

The path to creating DIALog was not without its challenges. We faced technical hurdles in integrating the YNA API and ensuring seamless real-time communication. Building a user-friendly interface that accommodated various disabilities required meticulous attention to detail.
