Inspiration

Scrolling through our phones, we stumbled across Shazam. Since one of us traveled to China the past summer, she recalled the dialects she heard and we decided to combine both into a speech translation app for dialects.

What it does

Similar to Shazam, our app allows users to record what they want translated in their dialect which will play and output the streamline language translation.

How we built it

We used Swift in Xcode to build our application.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into the challenge of how to input/output and translate audio files. We also had to learn how to improve user interface.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working on mobile development for the first time.

What we learned

We learned how to code with Swift and Xcode, giving us experience with the language and development interface.

What's next for Dialingo

We plan on implementing dialect to dialect so that if one is traveling to another part of the country where the streamline language isn't spoken, our app can directly translate to that dialect instead of going through the mainstream one.
