Therapy is very expensive in Mauritius and most students and female victims of domestic violence cannot afford this service. During the Covid-19 lockdown, we have witnessed the solidarity of mental health professionals in Mauritius who have put up a hotline offering their services for free through video-conferencing for anyone who might have mental health issues during the crisis. While this is commendable initiative, we believe that once the crisis is over, this service will not be provided free of charge to those who really need it. Therefore, we had the idea of teaming up with mental health professionals who would volunteer their time to help students and female victims of domestic violence, by creating a platform (the app) through which we can provide on-demand advice/assistance to our target audience, totally free of charge, and round the clock.
