Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is harder to go to hospitals for serious matters other than the virus. People try to avoid going to the hospitals out of fear of catching the virus. This problem inspired us to create a program where the user can get the same help from an AI that can help the user with their symptoms.

What it does

DiagnosisKit is a health chatbot to diagnose issues by using machine learning and conversational natural language processing through IMB Watson. The symptoms found is then sent to APIMedic to diagnose possible issues and possible solutions.

How we built it

We built the front-end portion, like the UI of the homepage and chatbot, with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. For the backend portion, we used Dockerfiles for building the API and backend files to call the API.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many challenges during the building of this hack. One of them was while building the UI for the homepage. The animation implemented was not working properly, and it took a LOOOONG time to fix it. Though the time was worth it, since the animations look really cool now.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The major accomplishment is overcoming the hardships we faced. The backend portion had many problems too, and fixing them was a pain. However, once we fixed them, we felt proud of being able to fix them.

What we learned

We learned a lot during this hackathon. One of the many things is how to properly implement the backend files to call the API, how to implement dark mode on websites, and more.

What's next for DiagnosisKit

What's next is to expand the scope of DiagnosisKit so that it can be able to get in touch with doctors in nearby hospitals to help with major injuries or symptoms.
