InspirationThe idea for our project was the desperation to solve the issues faced by my relatives..I lost 3 of them due to severe amputation caused by the diabetic foot ulcer neuropathy so I thought to find a way to detect it earlier which could have reduced severity or even prevent their deaths
What it does The prototype or hardware model basically works under the concept of vibration and pressure..The patient is made stand on the foot pad and vibration is increased from 20Hz to 300Hz and when they doesn't feel any kind of vibration sensation they are prone to early stage of diabetic foot ulcer
How we built it We had the vibration motors placed over the plantar surface of foot that are important pressure point of the foot ulcer development and had a microcontroller to control range of frequency with 20 to 300Hz(human bearable range) and potentiometers to increase the frequencies from low to high.We also have included a temperature plate to note down the temperature and it shows the reading in the digital screen and also we have pulseoximeter input to monitor the pulse and oxygen level
Challenges we ran into We took time to figure out the optimal nodal points to place vibration sensor to increase accuracy

We have won Hackathons and startup and ideathon completions conducted by various organization
What we learned
Prevention is better than cure..so we learn nothing is impossible and everything can be solved in easier way..
What's next for Diabetic foot ulcer detector
We are working to incorporate with foot care industries and footwear and we have registered for patent and we are also working to increase its efficiency and accuracy..Also we are in idea to develop it with more customisable foot pads size and have a startup quenching both BtoB and BtoC connections
