Managing diabetes is a challenge that requires finding the right balance among food, physical activity, and medicine, if needed.

Healthful food is key to managing diabetes.

Diabetes Cookbook provides recipes that are not only diabetes-friendly, but also healthy and delicious. They can be served to the whole family.

What Do You Get?

  • A variety of diabetes-friendly recipes

  • A searchable recipe database

  • The ability to provide feedback for each recipe

The development of Diabetes Cookbook was motivated by findings from the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III), which describes diet and exercise practices from a nationally representative sample of U.S. adults with type 2 diabetes.

The results:

  • Sixty-two percent of respondents ate fewer than five servings of fruits and vegetables per day.

  • Almost two thirds of the respondents consumed >30% of their daily calories from fat and >10% of total calories from saturated fat.

  • Thirty-six percent of the sample were overweight and another 46% were obese.

The conclusion:

The majority of individuals with type 2 diabetes were overweight, did not engage in recommended levels of physical activity, and did not follow dietary guidelines for fat and fruit and vegetable consumption. Additional measures are needed to encourage regular physical activity and improve dietary habits in this population.

Diabetes Cookbook is the "one stop shop" for new diabetes-friendly recipes and nutrition information.

It has been designed from the start to be consumer facing. Users can thus provide feedback on each recipe to help us better their experience.

Diabetes Cookbook has an engaging user interface for the ultimate user experience.

Lowering medical costs was a prime motive behind this app. It's never too late to start making lifestyle changes and help avoid the serious health complications of diabetes down the road, such as nerve, kidney and heart damage.

Consider the latest diabetes prevention tips from the American Diabetes Association:
