Inspiration
Diabetes is an extremely prevalent disease in both the local community of the United States and the entire world. About 1 in 10 US citizens have diabetes, and about 422 million people worldwide. Unfortunately, 1.5 million people die from diabetes each year, but we believe that with the implementation of DiaBuddy.AI, we can prevent some of those deaths.
What it does
DiaBuddy is a free generative AI tool that allows for diabetic patients to receive support for a better lifestyle through the implementation of customizable meal plans, exercise routines, and more.
How we built it
First, we used a bootstrap example page as a base. Then we had to find an alternative to ChatGPT's API. After we had found the alternative and got a working API call, we had to find a way for the user to interact with it. We decided to use Flask for the website because our API example was coded with Python. Finally, after getting working POST requests to our server, our project was finished.
Challenges we ran into
We almost ran out of time when creating the startup form. Luckily, it worked on the third try!

We learned more about tools such as Bootstrap.
What's next for DiaBuddy.AI
We hope to potentially transform this into an app in which we could send reminders to eat food and measure insulin levels.
