Dia-Win and Saliv-AID

Inspiration

We are inspired by the idea of cheap and affordable diagnostic technologies, like glucometer, and apps that provide and engage people like DuoLingo on positive growth, using a positive feedback cycle.

What it does

Saliv-AID and Dia-Win helps the patient to detect diabetic foot ulcers as early as possible, and our app helps the patient to understand the stage and progression and modify his lifestyle accordingly. It is more like a game, where the patient maintains streaks about adherence and immediate feedback on how the patient is improving his life by the minor changes he makes.We motivate the patient with voice reminders,and the voice is AI generated,which would be similar to someone they love and care about,so it keeps them adherent to the medication and lifestyle.And we also plan to integrate culture nuances too which would help them be adherent to the medication and lifestyle changes

How we built it

It is still a work in progress, but Saliv-AID is similar to technology that already exists for diagnosing diseases like Cancer.

Challenges we ran into

We are facing a few challenges, one of which is colour change. We need to conduct a pilot study to understand how the gold nanoparticle colour changes occur and form correlations to the colourimetric change and the disease stage.Another challenge that we are working on is to reduce false positives given by Saliv-AID because all the markers that are noted here might be seen in a few other conditions oral cancer,periodontitis,Diabetic Retinopathy.I think,we can make use of the fact that this is a screening tool for all of the three diseases,I mean if its positive,he is definitely at risk for three of those diseases

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the idea we've come up with, and we are proud that we have kept going forward to participate in this hackathon even with our busy schedules. This is our first hackathon together, and we intend to make the most of what we have.

What we learned

We have learnt a lot about how to make an app,how does mindsets of patient work,we could understand more about the disease pathophysiology and we are proud to tell that this hackathon has provided us the incentive to go through tiring hours to read research papers which we wouldn't have gone through.I love that about this personally.

What's next for Dia-Win and Saliv-AID

We are planning to pitch this for government health services like Ayushman Bharat after we do a protocol based pilot study.We intend to bring change,with what we do. DETECT,DECODE,DEFEND.
