Inspiration:
The inspiration for DIA comes from my mother.
Twenty years ago, my mother stood alone in a courtroom with me in her arms, fighting a legal battle for my custody. She navigated a system that was expensive, intimidating, and confusing, searching desperately for the right lawyer and the right guidance. She won—but that victory came at a tremendous emotional and financial cost.
That experience stayed with me. I grew up realizing that my mother won her fight, but many women don’t. Even today, countless women face legal battles without access to affordable legal help, emotional support, or even basic awareness of their rights.
DIA was born from that realization—to make sure no woman ever has to fight alone. The name DIA itself is my sister’s name, symbolizing strength, hope, and resilience. This project is deeply personal, and it is my way of turning pain into purpose.
What it does: DIA is an AI-powered legal and documentation assistant designed to make justice accessible, affordable, and humane. It helps users understand their legal rights, prepare documents through guided prompts, and connect with verified lawyers—without upfront fees.
To address the emotional toll of legal conflicts, DIA includes DIA™ MindEase, an emotional wellness extension that provides mental health support, journaling, affirmations, and counselor integration. DIA ensures users receive both legal clarity and emotional care, especially during high-stress situations.
How we built it: We built DIA using a secure, scalable, and privacy-first architecture. Verified legal and policy datasets are processed through an AI system that uses Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to provide accurate, explainable legal guidance.
The platform supports multilingual and voice-based interaction and is designed to be accessible across the web and WhatsApp. Strong authentication, encrypted data handling, and governed data pipelines ensure user trust and safety. The system is modular, allowing seamless future expansion to mobile apps, toll-free helplines, and regional language support.
Challenges we ran into: One of the biggest challenges was ensuring accuracy in a sensitive domain like law, where incorrect guidance can cause serious harm. Preventing AI hallucinations while keeping responses understandable was critical.
We also faced challenges balancing privacy with personalization, as legal conversations are deeply sensitive. Designing an interface that works equally well for tech-savvy users and first-time internet users required multiple UX iterations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: Top 10 at Agentathon 2025 (GDG Hyderabad)—Ranked among the Top 10 teams out of 2,300+ participants at one of Hyderabad’s largest Agentic AI hackathons, validating DIA’s technical architecture, feasibility, and real-world relevance

What we learned: We learned that AI for social good must be ethical, explainable, and human-centered. Technology alone cannot solve justice gaps—empathy, accessibility, and trust matter just as much.
This project taught us how to build responsible AI systems, work with governed data, and design solutions for real-world impact rather than theoretical use cases.
What's next for DIA: Next, we plan to expand DIA with regional language support, a toll-free AI helpline, and deeper partnerships with NGOs, legal aid authorities, and counselors. We aim to launch a mobile app, enhance voice-based guidance, and scale DIA across states—working toward our vision of building India’s most trusted AI + human legal ecosystem.
