Inspiration
Our entire team is heavily into weight-lifting. And a common thing we see amongst beginner/intermediate lifters is poor form which can lead to detrimental injuries in the current state or the future.
What it does
Kinetiq is a software suite that can track ten points on a person's body to examine where the form can be adjusted and improved.
How we built it
Kinetiq uses IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) to create an inverse-kinematic of a person's body based off of their body proportions. When doing a lift, it compares their movement to optimal/ideal movement to see where certain body parts can be adjusted and improved on.
Challenges we ran into
Inverse-kinematics was the entire math behind everything. We used SlimeVR as a beginning framework, however understanding how to create comparison datasets proved to be a challenge. We ended up training a small dataset on bad, mediocre, and optimal performance across multiple different activities.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The fact that our team was able to develop a dataset comparison tool like this because it proves that we're all able to ship a product out in a certain set amount of time.
What we learned
We used a lot of artificial intelligence for the development to speed it up, however it has shown us the AI is only really an assistant right now. And to really understand the product you're making, it's better to learn how to do a lot of the development process yourself.
