Inspiration
Debugging is one of the most time-consuming parts of software development. Developers often spend hours understanding errors, identifying bugs, and figuring out how to fix them. Beginners may find error messages especially difficult to understand.
We wanted to build a tool that makes debugging more accessible by combining AI-powered code analysis with a simple, developer-friendly interface.
What It Does
DevShield AI is an AI-powered code debugging and analysis platform designed to help developers understand programming errors and explore potential fixes.
Key features include:
- Code Analysis: Analyze code snippets to identify potential bugs and errors.
- Error Explanation: Explain programming issues in a clearer, more understandable way.
- Fix Suggestions: Help developers explore possible solutions and improvements.
- Developer-Friendly Interface: Provide a workspace for submitting code and reviewing analysis results.
- Interactive Debugging Experience: Make it easier to investigate problems without manually searching through multiple resources.
How We Built It
The project uses a React and Vite frontend to provide an interactive user interface. The backend is designed around FastAPI to handle requests and connect the application with AI inference services.
Our intended AI integration uses Nebius Token Factory and an eligible NVIDIA open-source model to support code analysis and debugging assistance.
The application is structured to connect the frontend, backend API, and AI inference layer. The final experience depends on the backend and model integration being correctly configured and available.
Challenges We Faced
One of the main challenges was connecting the frontend interface to the backend and ensuring that AI-generated results could be handled consistently. Configuring environment variables, managing API errors, and preparing the application for deployment were also important parts of the development process.
We also focused on making the interface understandable for developers who need clear explanations rather than only technical error messages.
What We Learned
Building DevShield AI helped us explore full-stack application development, API integration, AI-assisted coding workflows, and deployment considerations. We learned that a useful AI developer tool requires more than a good interface: it also needs reliable inference, clear error handling, and a practical user experience.
Future Scope
Future improvements could include support for additional programming languages, automated test generation, secure code execution in an isolated sandbox, code quality recommendations, and deeper debugging workflows.
Our goal is to make DevShield AI a practical assistant that helps developers understand problems, learn from errors, and debug code more efficiently.
