Inspiration
Every developer needs recognition to show case what he/she is doing and the world need to know about a developers contribution. It can help Recruiters also to find people's capabilities. Since there is no website where a users open source, Coding and Blogs are shown at once we tried creating one.
What it does
Developerportfolio or Dev-Folio is used to retrieve a users blogs, Competitive Coding(Code forces) Stats and Open Source Contributions of a particular person at one place.
How I built it
I built it using React, Java Script mainly. I used HTML,CSS,BOOTSTRAP for enhancing the UI. I used Postman for testing.
Challenges I ran into
Whenver I'm routing a particular page using react router it is not goint to exact path it is showing main path so I used exact path for it go there and if we use normal links if wont work properly so I learned React-router and used it. And sometimes when the search box is empty I got some errors so I avoided it using a small check. The main issue that I faced other than that is hosting. While I tried to use a domain in netlify I was unable to do it. And I seriously spent more than 3 hrs on it. And I think it takes some time to configure DNS maybe. Although we were 2 , only I was able to contribute to this majorly so it was some what tough for me.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Initially I'm a beginner in React and Java script , but after this project my concepts have become strong and I was able to resolve most of the conflicts that I got. I did not give up on my project since there were no other active team mates that I have. But I made it with the zeal to make it happen.
What I learned
React,Hosting,DNS(Technically),
What's next for DevProfile
I want to make enhance it to show job opportunities and want to add data base to it with the help of my Open Source Community in future. And also whenever a HR posts a job based on his requirements the profiles which are looking for opportunities need to be forwarded. This is what I want to continue with this in future.
