Inspiration

Devolveme was born from a simple but global problem: millions of people lose important personal belongings every day, yet recovery systems remain inefficient, expensive, fragmented, or entirely inaccessible.

When we analyzed why this problem persists, we realized that most existing solutions approach it the wrong way. They focus almost exclusively on single-purpose hardware tracking devices (like expensive Bluetooth tags), which require invasive geolocation systems, continuous battery maintenance, and closed ecosystems. In emerging markets and for the vast majority of the global population, these technologies are inaccessible due to cost, compatibility, or lack of infrastructure.

I wanted to rethink the problem from a systems perspective. Instead of creating another expensive, single-purpose tracker, the goal became clear: simplify and automate the entire recovery process itself by creating an accessible, intelligent, and multi-functional infrastructure.

What it does

Devolveme is an automated recovery infrastructure that combines low-cost, multi-functional physical entry points with highly intelligent digital workflows.

Crucially, Devolveme is not a single-purpose tag. We engineered the hardware to provide daily utility for the client. By integrating NFC for instant digital connection and RFID capabilities for access control (like opening doors), the tag becomes an essential everyday item, ensuring users actively carry it.

When an item is actually lost, the recovery protocol kicks in. If someone finds it, they simply scan it. From that moment, our AI-driven and automated system takes over. It acts as an impartial intermediary that coordinates secure communication, identity verification, logistics, payments, and reward distribution—all without exposing the personal data of either party and with zero human intervention.

This is an intelligent operational layer where AI and automation make perfect sense because they eliminate the human bottlenecks that typically cause recovery efforts to fail, while providing everyday value to the user.

How we built it

This project is already designed and built as real technological infrastructure.

We didn't just build an app; we built a scalable, API-first orchestration engine. Every registered item is assigned a unique digital identity connected to automated cloud-based state machines.

Our architecture is designed around robust API integrations and scalable automation systems, including:

  • Conversational Interfaces: WhatsApp and Telegram APIs for frictionless user interaction.
  • Core Integrations: Google Maps for location context and automated email systems for multi-channel notifications.
  • Operations: Payment gateways for secure reward processing and logistics integrations for automated return shipping.

By treating the physical, multi-functional tag merely as an entry point, the true core of Devolveme is a scalable, cloud-native infrastructure that can handle thousands of concurrent recovery processes globally without breaking a sweat.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing a system that could remain infinitely scalable, extremely low-cost for the end user, and fiercely privacy-conscious all at once. Connecting a "finder" and a "loser" usually involves sharing phone numbers or emails, which creates a huge barrier to entry. We had to build a robust, anonymized proxy communication layer to solve this.

Another major challenge was reducing operational dependency on human management. Designing automated workflows capable of handling edge cases in communication, fraud prevention during verification, and secure reward distribution required complex system architecture and rigorous testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of having shifted the paradigm from "hardware tracking" to "automated coordination with daily utility." We successfully built a system where the underlying technology completely manages the operational complexity, leaving the users with a magical, frictionless experience. We've proven that we can incentivize good behavior (returning items) by removing all the logistical headaches traditionally associated with it, all while giving the user a tool they actually want to use every day.

What we learned

Throughout the development process, the most profound learning was that the true value of Devolveme is not the physical tag itself, but the intelligent infrastructure behind it.

We learned that people generally want to do the right thing when they find a lost item, but the friction (how to contact the owner, how to return it, who pays for shipping) stops them. By applying automation to coordinate these steps, we don't just return lost items; we engineer trust at scale. Furthermore, we learned that combining everyday utility (NFC/RFID) with emergency utility (recovery) drastically increases user adoption.

What's next for DEVOLVEME

Our vision is for Devolveme to become the global recovery infrastructure standard.

Because our system is highly scalable, multi-functional, and API-driven, the next step is B2B and Smart City integrations. The dual nature of our tags (RFID/NFC + Recovery) makes them perfect for enterprise environments: a corporate ID badge or hotel room key that automatically turns into an intelligent recovery beacon if lost.

Ultimately, Devolveme will evolve beyond personal item recovery into a ubiquitous, low-cost technological trust infrastructure that serves millions of people internationally.
