๐ง Inspiration
Iโve always had these weird ideas constantly popping into my head โ some brilliant, some ridiculous โ but turning them into something actionable was always a struggle. Writing them down was easy, but planning them? Chaos. I needed a tool that could turn raw thoughts into product blueprints, so I built DevDump โ the product ideation tool I always wished I had.
๐ก What DevDump Does
DevDump is an AI-powered product ideation platform that helps creators:
- ๐งพ Dump their raw, messy ideas
- ๐ Organize features with built-in AI
- ๐ Build user flows visually
- ๐ Validate with light market trend analysis
Itโs like a thinking partner for solo devs and product minds.
๐ ๏ธ How We Built It
The journey started with a problem I personally faced, which made it more meaningful. I began by designing the data models, planning API interactions, and sketching the UI structure. This time, I embraced a new coding method โ prompt-coding, powered by Bolt.new.
Hereโs the simplified process:
- Ideated the core idea
- Defined how data should flow
- Mapped out user flows & interface structure
- Carefully crafted the initial AI prompt to ensure adaptability
- Entered the loop of: prompt โ test โ refine
๐ง Challenges I Ran Into
- Supabase environment variables gave me headaches like I didn't even distinguish between secrets and environment variables
- Integrating Gemini AI wasnโt as plug-and-play as Iโd hoped
- Market trend APIs were expensive or limited( i didn't get one but plan to integrate them soon)
- Deployment issues: Netlify flagged my account on first signup, so I migrated to Vercel, which worked flawlessly
๐ Accomplishments We're Proud Of
One huge win? The AI feature. I coded the core logic by hand and tuned it with Bolt to get it just right. It was a rewarding challenge, and honestly, my favorite part of the build.
๐ง What I Learned
I started with a strong idea but no structured plan. That changed mid-way. I realized that planning is not optional โ itโs essential. The clarity that comes from planning saves hours of confusion and messy rewrites. This project taught me that product development is not just building โ itโs thinking, testing, and refining.
๐ฎ What's Next for DevDump
Hereโs where DevDump is going:
- ๐ง AI-powered flowchart editing
- ๐ Integrate smarter trend validation tools
- ๐ค Export to Notion, PDF, or GitHub README
- ๐ฅ User personas + collaboration features
- ๐ผ DevDump Pro for indie founders & PMs
