Inspiration

What it does

It visualizes, analyzes and predicts the crime reports (data from police departments) published via the processing of open-source Police Data Initiative.

How I built it

I did find and use crimes report dataset for the largest Michigan city. Then download it and push the row data to MongoDB Atlas cloud database. Then made a connection with a DB to process data with python scripts and saved it locally because of the resources optimization. At this step I also used GCP GE, to encode needed addresses to geo-features (Latitude, Longitude pairs). And the final step was the insights selection, trends analysis, and static and dynamic visualization via python standard frameworks and webGL.

Challenges I ran into

Data for the task and task evaluation (tried and made an initial/primary analysis of data for about N tasks over 3-6 hours) and the lack of hot/boiled drinking water, coffee, and kettle/boiler.

What I learned

That is an interesting question.

What's next for DetroitCrime.space

That is not the less interesting question than the previous one.
